In the past I would connect to "deep okayness" or "the most important thing to me" or "God" or "myself/my deepest truth" etc with mental, emotional, memory, or even body cues. I had varying degrees of success with this, depending on how connected to the cues I was at a given time, and how well the cues could generalize.
Recently, a new cue I've been trying (physically connect to ground + self energy simultaneously) seems more robustly accessible and generalizable than the past ones, but it's still early; time will tell how well it sticks!
- When I am triggered, it's easier to not blend with the feeling and I have some space instead of reacting impulsively/strongly, bc I feel more self-sufficient in taking care of myself. Same with being overwhelmed or anxious; I can more easily remember that it doesn't really matter and I'm safe. I don't need things to be resolved right away, or even at all
- I am more able to be in situations I normally dread (b/c of boredom, avoidance, aversion, annoyance), it feels more like no big deal
- I feel more at peace and connected to all things. I can sometimes actively enjoy being in my own experience even when I'm not doing anything
- I am used to waking up in the morning with a sense of dread/disorientation/not knowing who I am. This feeling has been way weaker, and I think the causality is pretty clear
- When I feel strong emotions or impulses, even positive ones, I don't get swept away by them (which can result in disorientation/depression/despair later after they fade, similar to how I am used to waking up in the morning) - I continue to savor them fully, but do so while connecting to my sense of self
- My sense of "me" and "self" is more solid and I can anchor to it? I have more consistent wants/motivations/values/goals (at least within the past 1-2 weeks). Therefore greater trust in going with the flow, and that I will do things that cumulatively converge in a direction I like.
This list sounds kinda dramatic but as of right now to put a number on it, I'd guess I dialed up my average solidity from a 6 out of 10 to...a 7.5? not dramatic but pretty good and noticeable! and again, I feel a bit conservative, curious to wait and see if the effect is lasting. I will put a note in my calendar to check in about this with myself in a few weeks
