The desire to check Twitter

Sometimes the desire to check Twitter is the desire for a hug, like my desire for sugar.

Sometimes the desire to check Twitter is a deep feeling of anxiety, and I need to make sure that I'm OK. My world is on Twitter. My friends are on Twitter. All the ideas and people I care about are on Twitter. But if I pause before the urge to check Twitter for a moment, and I have my wits about me, I remember that actually, all the ideas and people I care about or within me. Also, I remember that I'm already OK. I feel great forces of energy moving downwards from me into the Earth, rooting me into it, and I remember that all of my life force comes from there, that no sequence of thoughts I could think will save me, and the urge to check Twitter vanishes.

Sometimes the desire to check Twitter is like that wave on the gargantuan water planet in Interstellar. Gravity bends around Twitter, there are no thoughts but check Twitter. I might think, "maybe I don't want to check Twitter?" but the only thought that that leads to is a vague feeling that that way lies pain. I emerge several hours later having checked Twitter. It's all good.
